Avondale Park District Launches Winter Recreation Programs as Holiday Season Begins

Avondale residents looking for winter activities close to home will have plenty of options this season as the Chicago Park District has announced its winter program lineup at Avondale Park. Registration for the winter session begins Monday, December 8, with programs scheduled to run from January 5 through March 15, 2026.

The 1.24-acre park, located north of Belmont Avenue and west of Kimball Avenue, continues to serve as a vital community hub with its field house, gymnastics center, and outdoor facilities. Winter programming will include a diverse range of activities for all ages and skill levels, from fitness classes to recreational sports. The park's gymnastics center, one of only nine such specialized facilities in the Chicago Park District system, remains particularly popular among neighborhood families.

This expanded winter programming comes as Avondale continues to enjoy its recent global recognition, having been ranked the world's fifth coolest neighborhood by TimeOut magazine in its prestigious 2025 global rankings. Residents are encouraged to register early either online or in-person starting December 13 to secure spots in preferred activities, as programs typically fill quickly during the winter months.
