Hull House Museum Launches Winter Workshops Series for 'Radical Craft' Exhibition

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/University Village Little Italy ·

The Jane Addams Hull House Museum in University Village Little Italy is enhancing its visitor experience this December with a special series of winter workshops connected to its popular 'Radical Craft' exhibition. The museum, which occupies the last remaining building of what was once a larger settlement house complex, continues to offer free admission with welcomed donations, and is open daily except Mondays and Saturdays. Visitors can explore exhibits on the first floor that showcase Hull House's history, featuring a scale model of the original complex alongside keys to all the buildings and other significant artifacts.

The workshops coincide with other exciting developments in University Village Little Italy, as the neighborhood continues to evolve through programs like ChiBlockBuilder, Chicago's innovative vacant land acquisition initiative that makes lots available to homeowners, non-profit organizations, business owners, and developers with varying eligibility criteria and pricing options. According to data updated in October 2025, approximately 375 properties in the area may qualify for various development initiatives, presenting opportunities for community growth while preserving the neighborhood's distinctive character. Residents and visitors are encouraged to participate in the museum's upcoming weekend workshops to learn about traditional crafting techniques while connecting with the area's rich cultural heritage.
