By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Palmer Square ·
Palmer Square residents will have a unique opportunity to celebrate the holidays right in their neighborhood as the historic Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church announces its first-ever Community Holiday Concert Series. Beginning December 12, the 62-year-old church at 3062 W. Palmer Square will open its doors for three consecutive Thursday evenings featuring local musicians and choral groups performing seasonal favorites in the building's remarkable acoustic setting.
The church, which was recently featured during Logan Square Preservation's 35th Biennial House Walk, will welcome visitors of all faiths to experience its beautiful interior while enjoying performances from community musicians. The concert series organizers have partnered with local Palmer Square eateries to provide refreshments during the post-concert receptions, creating a festive atmosphere where neighbors can connect while supporting local businesses during the holiday season.
Residents interested in attending can reserve free tickets through the Palmer Square Park Advisory Council website, with donations encouraged to support the church's historical preservation fund. The concert series represents a new tradition for the neighborhood that complements Palmer Square's growing reputation as a hub for community arts and culture.
