Terra Coffee Prepares for Late December Grand Opening Near Belmont Blue Line
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Avondale ·
Avondale's coffee scene continues to evolve as Terra Coffee, formerly known as Cultura Ccafe, prepares for its grand opening near the Belmont Blue Line station in late December. The beloved cafe, co-owned by mother-daughter duo Claudia Quiñónez and Jocelyn Telles, is relocating from its original Belmont Avenue location to 3341 W. Belmont Avenue while embracing a complete rebrand.
The owners hope to maintain their celebrated community-focused atmosphere at the new location while benefiting from increased foot traffic near the transit hub. Terra, meaning "soil" in Latin, represents the owners' Guatemalan heritage with a volcano logo symbolizing soil nourishment. The expanded cafe will feature a larger menu and coffee sourced directly from Luis Minaz's farm in Antigua, Guatemala. "One of the reasons why Guatemala produces such amazing coffee is because we have active volcanoes, and the ash from the active volcanoes fertilizes soil," explained Telles.
Avondale residents can look forward to visiting the new establishment when it opens in late December or early January. "We want to be a place where community thrives, a place where people can actually connect," said Telles, who joined the business as co-owner in 2023 after eight years in finance. Neighbors eager to support this local business can follow Terra Coffee's social media for updates on the grand opening celebrations and special offerings.
