South Loop Neighbors to Host First Annual Winter Solstice Art Walk on December 21

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/South Loop ·

South Loop residents will soon have a luminous new tradition as South Loop Neighbors announces their inaugural Winter Solstice Art Walk on Sunday, December 21, 2025. The community-focused event will transform Michigan Avenue between 14th Street and Roosevelt Road into a corridor of light installations, ice sculptures, and interactive art displays created by local artists.

The event is being organized by South Loop Neighbors, a non-profit membership-based organization dedicated to enhancing quality of life in South Loop's neighborhoods. "We're thrilled to bring neighbors together around art and light during the darkest day of the year," shared event coordinator Maria Delgado. "This celebration builds on our mission of organizing informational and entertainment events that strengthen community connections." The free, family-friendly celebration will feature hot chocolate stations, fire pits for warming, and performances by local musicians along the route.

Residents interested in participating can register through the South Loop Neighbors website, with opportunities for both attendees and volunteers. The organization encourages neighbors to bring lanterns or light-up accessories to add to the evening's glow as they stroll through the illuminated pathway connecting South Loop's cultural landmarks.
