Historic Church Transformation Begins as LUCHA Breaks Ground on Palmer Square Affordable Housing Project

The project, led by the Latin United Community Housing Association (LUCHA), will transform the nearly 100-year-old former Humboldt Park Methodist Church into much-needed affordable housing while preserving its historic façade.

LUCHA has partnered with local architecture firm Canopy to renovate 12 existing units with new bathrooms and kitchens while adding 10 new units through a thoughtful addition on the top floor. The development will maintain deep affordability with units targeted for residents earning between 15-50% of the area median income.
