McCaffery Interests Launches First Public Workshop Series for Mars Factory Redevelopment in Galewood
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Galewood ·
McCaffery Interests has announced a new series of public workshops for Galewood residents to help shape the future of the historic Mars Wrigley factory redevelopment. The Chicago-based developer, selected after a competitive process earlier this year, will host its first community design sessions at Trinity Galewood Church beginning next week.
The landmark Spanish Colonial Revival building, which produced beloved treats like Snickers and Three Musketeers for nearly a century, will serve as the centerpiece of an ambitious transformation project. "We're creating multiple opportunities for residents to participate in this historic redevelopment process," said Dan McCaffery, CEO of McCaffery Interests. The workshops will focus on gathering resident input for potential mixed-use spaces including community areas, housing options, and small-scale retail while preserving the architectural heritage of the site.
Galewood residents interested in participating in these workshops can register through the Galewood Neighbors website. "From the beginning, Mars has prioritized community benefit for this site," said Steve Green, Chairperson for Galewood Neighbors. "These workshops represent an extraordinary opportunity for residents to create a new neighborhood landmark that honors our heritage while addressing current needs."
