8 Crazy Nights Brings Vibrant Hanukkah Celebration to Wrigleyville's Holiday Landscape
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Wrigleyville ·
While Christmas-themed bars dominate Wrigleyville's winter wonderland, one unique establishment stands out with its blue and white decor. The '8 Crazy Nights' Hanukkah pop-up at Graystone Tavern (3441 N. Sheffield Ave) has returned for another season, offering a festive alternative through January 4th that celebrates Jewish holiday traditions.
Visitors entering the tavern are greeted by a spectacular display featuring over 14,000 blue and white lights, giant dreidel decorations in the windows, and walls adorned with Stars of David and festive menorah-themed seat covers. The menu offers traditional Jewish favorites including latkes in three varieties and matzo ball soup, alongside creative cocktails like the Gelt Martini and Maccabee Margarita. For dessert, guests can indulge in boozy jelly donuts filled with house-made vodka-infused jelly.
The pop-up has become a community gathering space, partnering with local Jewish organizations like ChiTribe for special events including mixers and dreidel tournaments. A special highlight comes this Thursday, December 18th, when Geoffrey Baer hosts a live event featuring games, Hanukkah-themed cocktails, and stories from his documentary "A Celebration of Hanukkah." Wrigleyville residents and visitors of all backgrounds are encouraged to experience this unique celebration that has successfully created an inclusive space within Chicago's holiday bar scene.
