Momo & Co. Art Shop Brings Works from 30+ Local Artists to Avondale's Elston Avenue
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Avondale ·
Avondale's local art scene is flourishing with the recent opening of Momo & Co., a cozy new art shop at 3076 N. Elston Avenue. Launched by collage artist and neighborhood resident Mo Komperda, the shop features creative works from over 30 makers, most of whom are local Chicago artists, friends, and independent brands Komperda admires.
The owner hopes the shop will encourage more neighbors to support local makers while expanding visibility for modern art in Avondale. Neighboring business owners have already begun sending customers to the new establishment to help it gain momentum. Popular items include handmade ceramic Midwestern dinner party trays by suburban artist Christina BowBeena, Chicago Handshake Malort-inspired scented candles from Fresa Creative, and empanada keychain plush dolls crafted by Natali Koromoto. Komperda keeps the shopping experience fresh by rearranging inventory multiple times daily. "Every time people come in, they see things differently because there is so much in here," she explained. "It's a neighborhood store, so it should be fresh and new and different."
Residents and visitors looking to explore Avondale's growing creative community are encouraged to visit the shop, which is open Fridays from 3-7pm and weekends from 11am-7pm. Those unable to visit in person can also browse the selection online at momo-and-co.com and follow the shop on social media for updates on new arrivals from local artists.
