Winter Wellness Continues: 'Community Healing in Humboldt Park' Yoga Series Expands for December

Humboldt Park residents looking for wellness opportunities during the winter months have a special opportunity as Woke Chicago expands its popular 'Community Healing in Humboldt Park' yoga series with sessions every Sunday throughout December. The indoor program provides a welcoming space for neighbors to practice mindfulness and movement while connecting with fellow community members.

The wellness initiative runs alongside several park improvements that continue to enhance Humboldt Park's facilities. The recently renovated public bathrooms near Luis Munoz Marin Drive and the eastern basketball courts, which were completed earlier this year, are set to officially open next summer as part of a broader improvement package. Additionally, the Chicago Park District has confirmed that the new football field, which will feature natural grass rather than synthetic turf, is on track for completion by summer 2025.

Community input has played a crucial role in shaping these developments. Following a survey of more than 200 area residents, the Park District decided to rehabilitate the existing tennis courts rather than convert them to pickleball courts as originally planned. "The Park District confirmed the new football field, which will be grass and not turf, will be completed and ready by summer as well," said a district spokesperson. Residents interested in participating in the Sunday yoga sessions can find registration information through Woke Chicago's online platforms or attend as drop-ins at the Humboldt Park Cultural Center.
