Ecclection Expands: Portage Park's Funky Vintage Shop Celebrates New Location Success
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Portage Park ·
Portage Park's vibrant shopping scene is thriving with the success of Ecclection, the neighborhood's funkiest vintage shop that recently relocated to a larger corner storefront at 6059 W. Irving Park Road. Owner Julie Alleyne, who first opened the shop in fall 2023, has found a new home for her eclectic collection in a brighter, more spacious location that's been drawing increased foot traffic since its February move.
The expanded shop has become a treasure trove for unique gifts, featuring everything from handmade jewelry and seasonal decorations to eye-catching art pieces like lamps crafted from repurposed automotive parts. "You can find something for maybe not the average person," Alleyne explains, noting that many items are one-of-a-kind. The shop also showcases works from local artisans, including Smelly Melly Soaps and Candles, Englewood Essentials self-care products, and upcycled Glitz jewelry. With the holiday season in full swing, Ecclection has extended its hours through Christmas to accommodate shoppers seeking distinctive gifts.
Residents interested in exploring this growing hub of creativity can visit Ecclection Wednesday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shop's expansion represents a positive trend in Portage Park's retail landscape, with Alleyne expressing hope that her success will attract more businesses to the area, further enhancing the neighborhood's appeal as a destination for unique shopping experiences.
