Humboldt Park's First Cannabis Dispensary Approved, Set to Revitalize Long-Vacant Building

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Humboldt Park ·

Humboldt Park residents will soon welcome the neighborhood's first cannabis dispensary after the city's zoning committee approved plans for the new business. Lyfe Cannabis Dispensary, a social equity ownership company with an existing location in Rockford, received approval to transform the long-vacant building at 2735 W. North Ave. that has sat empty for over a decade.

The revitalization project includes significant improvements to the corner property, with plans to add a new facade, restore the original entryway, install 24-hour security cameras, and enhance exterior lighting. Lyfe is working with developer 360 Degrees, which is purchasing the building as part of a commitment to actively use the space and create new employment opportunities for area residents. The approval represents a positive step toward addressing vacant storefronts while bringing a new, legal business to the community.

Neighbors interested in learning more about the dispensary's opening timeline can attend upcoming 26th Ward community meetings or check the ward's website for updates. The project joins several other positive developments in Humboldt Park, reinforcing the neighborhood's ongoing revitalization and economic growth.
