Humboldt Park residents looking for cultural immersion during the winter months are flocking to La Parranda Boricua Pop-Up, Chicago's first Puerto Rican Christmas-themed event space located inside Le Lo Lai Gallery at 2716 W. Division St. The pop-up, which has seen lines out the door since opening, brings the vibrant cultural island vibes to the cold streets of Humboldt Park with Puerto Rican flags, fake palm trees, inflatable Christmas-themed coquís, and traditional holiday decorations.

Co-organizer Liana Lorenzo emphasizes that the space honors Puerto Rican heritage while creating an accessible cultural experience in the neighborhood. "We still plan to branch off into more Puerto Rican cultural experiences," Lorenzo noted about future plans. The pop-up remains open through early January, operating 6-10 p.m. Fridays, noon-10 p.m. Saturdays, and noon-4 p.m. Sundays with a suggested

0 donation that includes entry into a raffle for a seasonal guava coquito bottle by MadCru Sangria.

The community-focused event welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds, featuring a diverse calendar of activities including salsa, bachata, bomba and cumbia workshops, coquito-making classes, toy drives and nighttime fiestas. Residents interested in experiencing this unique cultural celebration can visit the gallery on Division Street, where the vibrant traditions of Puerto Rico come alive in the heart of Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood.
