Mixed-Use Development Gets Green Light at Former Leona's Restaurant Site in Rogers Park

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Rogers Park ·

The Chicago City Council has officially approved plans for an exciting new mixed-use development at 6935 North Sheridan Road in Rogers Park. The project, which will transform the long-vacant commercial structure that previously housed Leona's Restaurant, received final approval after developer Chicago Equity Partners incorporated community feedback into the design over several months.

Designed by MC & Associates, the five-story building will feature a distinctive aesthetic combining white and light red brick with black metal accent panels and windows. The courtyard-style structure will include over 3,600 square feet of commercial space at the main street corner of Sheridan and Morse Avenue, complete with a large central lobby and bicycle parking facilities. The addition of new retail space promises to enhance the vibrant commercial corridor that already features numerous local businesses and restaurants, further strengthening Rogers Park's reputation as one of Chicago's most diverse and walkable neighborhoods.

Residents interested in learning more about the development can visit the 49th Ward office for additional information or attend upcoming community meetings. The project represents another step in the ongoing revitalization of Rogers Park's commercial districts, joining other neighborhood improvements like the Glenwood Alfresco community space and the Mile of Murals public art project.
