Near North residents will soon have a new shopping destination as T.J. Maxx has signed a 10-year lease for a 26,000-square-foot space at 939 W. North Avenue. The retailer will anchor the prominent corner at North and Sheffield Avenues, bringing new energy to the Lincoln Park retail corridor when it opens in the third quarter of 2026.

The building, acquired in 2024 by Farpoint Development and MCZ Development, is undergoing a complete modernization including a new facade, floor-to-ceiling windows, and contemporary amenities. "This lease brings new energy to an already thriving Lincoln Park retail market while solidifying our repositioning strategy. It confirms what we knew all along: our property is a gateway to Lincoln Park's premier retail corridor," said Farpoint Development Principal Alex Katz. The location's indoor covered parking is expected to be a significant draw for shoppers, complementing nearby retailers including Nordstrom Rack, Williams Sonoma, and current tenants Fitness Formula Clubs, Iteld Plastic Surgery and Urban Oasis.

Near North shoppers can look forward to a uniquely curated merchandise selection, as T.J. Maxx is known for tailoring its inventory to local community preferences. This new retail development represents a positive sign of continued investment in the neighborhood's commercial landscape, with the developers already receiving letters of intent from potential tenants for the remaining retail spaces in the building.
