Billed as Chicago's only Johnny Cash festival, this beloved community event will feature original music and tributes from an array of bands, with proceeds benefiting Pat Mac's Pack, a nonprofit supporting pediatric brain tumor research and families dealing with the disease. The organization honors the memory of Patrick McNamara, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 26 months old and passed away at age 13 after enduring 15 brain surgeries and multiple rounds of chemotherapy. The festival's roots trace back more than two decades when area resident Steve Davern and Father Chris Doering, former pastor of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Jefferson Park, would play Johnny Cash songs and classic country music at a local bar. The event has since grown into one of Jefferson Park's most anticipated annual gatherings, combining musical celebration with meaningful community support.
