Palmer Square Park Launches Winter Wellness Series for Community Health and Connection

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Palmer Square ·

Palmer Square residents now have a new way to stay active and connected during the winter months. The Palmer Square Park Advisory Council announced this week the launch of their first-ever Winter Wellness Series, offering free fitness classes and health workshops every Saturday morning through March.

The series builds on the park's growing popularity as a community hub since its designation as Chicago's first accredited arboretum in 2025. Each session combines outdoor activities that showcase the park's natural features with indoor workshops at nearby community spaces. "We want to help neighbors stay physically active while building stronger community connections during these winter months," explained a park council representative. The initiative is part of Mayor Brandon Johnson's citywide efforts to support neighborhood vitality and community wellness in 2026.

Residents interested in participating can register through the Palmer Square Park Advisory Council website, with the first session beginning this Saturday at 10 AM. The series will include guided winter walks through the park's arboretum, yoga classes, and nutrition workshops led by local wellness professionals.
