Wrigleyville's culinary scene continues to diversify with Rendang Republic, Chicago's only Indonesian restaurant, earning a prestigious 2026 Jean Banchet Award nomination just months after opening. The cozy spot at 3355 N. Clark Street has quickly become both a neighborhood staple and destination dining experience, with their signature beef rendang sandwich emerging as a fan favorite among Cubs fans and foodies alike.

The restaurant will showcase its unique flavors during Chicago Restaurant Week (January 23-February 8), offering special prix fixe menus that blend Indonesian traditions with Chicago classics. "We wanted to create a space for Indonesians to gather, while also introducing these flavors to a wider audience," says co-founder Chef John Avila, who partnered with Indonesian-born Rizal Hamdallah to bring authentic Padang cuisine to Wrigleyville.

Visitors can experience Rendang Republic's innovative menu Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 9pm, with standout dishes including their Duck Inn-do hot dog with sambal aioli and their signature 8-hour braised beef rendang plate. The restaurant also serves as a daytime café offering Indonesian-inspired coffee and tea drinks. Wrigleyville residents and visitors are encouraged to make reservations early for Restaurant Week, as this neighborhood gem is sure to be in high demand during the popular dining event.
