Modern Living Comes to Wrigleyville: Foundation Permit Approved for New Sheffield Avenue Development
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Wrigleyville ·
A significant step forward for Wrigleyville's evolving residential landscape was marked this month as a foundation permit for the new development at 3627-3633 North Sheffield Avenue was added to the Chicago Data Portal on January 13. This represents the first official green light for construction on the site that will replace three older buildings behind Wrigley Field's right field bleachers.
The upcoming five-story building, approved by the Chicago City Council in August 2024, will feature 29 dwelling units with diverse floor plans. The thoughtfully designed structure will include four residential units and an 11-space parking garage on the first floor, seven units each on the second through fourth floors, and four units on the top level. Future residents can choose from one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom layouts ranging from 800 to 2,000 square feet. Designed by DXU Architects, the 69-foot-tall building will showcase an attractive facade of brick with stone copings and decorative metal panels and arches, bringing contemporary architectural elements to the historic neighborhood.
This development represents Wrigleyville's continued evolution beyond its sports-centric identity into a diverse neighborhood with a blend of historic character and modern living options. Residents interested in learning more about this exciting addition to the neighborhood can follow updates on the project through the Chicago Data Portal or contact the Wrigleyville neighborhood association for future leasing information.
