Habitat for Humanity Breaks Ground on Historic 20-Unit Townhome Project in West Pullman
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/West Pullman ·
Habitat for Humanity Chicago has broken ground on its largest real estate development to date—a twenty-townhome project in the heart of West Pullman neighborhood. The groundbreaking event attracted over 50 community, governmental, and corporate partner representatives who committed to long-term financial and social investment in the area.
Northern Trust, a key partner whose collaboration with Habitat spans nearly 30 years, expressed strong support for the initiative. "Our work with Habitat for Humanity represents more than just building homes. It's working together to build hope, strengthen communities, and foster a brighter future for families in need," stated Shana Hayes, Northern Trust's Chief Social Impact Officer. Located strategically across from the future 12-acre Morgan Park Commons, these new two-story townhomes will feature private garages, community green spaces, and spacious three- and four-bedroom floor plans.
West Pullman residents interested in learning more about this transformative housing opportunity can visit Habitat Chicago's website to take a self-assessment or attend upcoming community information sessions. The development represents a significant step forward in addressing affordable housing needs while strengthening one of Chicago's historic South Side communities.
