Southwest Collective Expands Community Engagement as Archer Avenue Improvements Gain Support
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Archer Heights ·
The Southwest Collective, a local community organization in Archer Heights, is seeing increased resident participation in their neighborhood improvement initiatives as February begins. At a recent community gathering on January 12, neighborhood residents came together in growing numbers to support ongoing Archer Avenue safety enhancements, with community organization Southwest Collective leading engagement efforts.
Led by local residents Jamie Groth Searle and Dixon Galvez-Searle, the Southwest Collective has been instrumental in facilitating community conversations about infrastructure improvements designed to make streets safer for all residents. "We're trying to make it so that everyone can use the street, not just people behind one set of wheels, but people who operate multiple sets of wheels: a wheelchair, a stroller, a scooter, a bike, or a car," explained Groth Searle. The January gathering featured Brighton Park residents leading dance sessions, while supporters displayed signs promoting street safety in multiple languages, reflecting the neighborhood's diverse character.
Archer Heights residents interested in learning more about the Collective's community initiatives or participating in future neighborhood events can visit their website or follow them on social media. In addition to street safety advocacy, the organization continues to develop food security initiatives through their Community Boxes program and plans regular community events throughout 2026.
