Casa Yari Restaurant Opens New Chapter in Humboldt Park's Paseo Boricua

Popular Puerto Rican-Caribbean restaurant Casa Yari has found a new home in Humboldt Park, reopening this Friday at 2743 W. Division St. in the cultural Paseo Boricua district. After being forced to leave its longtime Logan Square location last year, chef-owner Yari Vargas is returning to her roots in her native neighborhood with an expanded space that's double the size of the previous location.
The reimagined restaurant features a striking centerpiece: a large flamboyan tree greeting customers as they enter. "The tree, sometimes called 'The Flame Tree,' is a signature icon in Puerto Rican art and culture and a perfect representation of the restaurant's new journey," Vargas explained. The installation's bright red flowers and tall branches are crafted from real wood found in nearby Humboldt Park, creating an authentic connection to the neighborhood. The restaurant will initially serve dinner Wednesday through Sunday, with brunch service starting in approximately a month. While Casa Yari doesn't yet serve alcohol, it maintains a BYOB policy, with Vargas planning to apply for a liquor license this summer and offering discounts to patrons who support the liquor store across the street.
Humboldt Park residents and food enthusiasts are encouraged to visit Casa Yari's new location and experience Chef Vargas' unique fusion of Puerto Rican and Honduran cuisines, which includes vegetarian and vegan options. Follow the restaurant's social media for updates on hours and special events as they settle into their new Division Street home.
