Rogers Park's Wild Onion Market Welcomes New Vendor as Community Co-op Thrives

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Rogers Park ·

Rogers Park residents have more healthy food options as 4 Suns Kitchen recently opened a new storefront inside the Wild Onion Market at 7007 N. Clark Street. Owner Gabrielle Walker launched the location in late January 2026, serving fresh soups, wraps, and smoothies to an enthusiastic community response.

The Wild Onion Market, which opened its doors in June 2024 after years of community organizing, continues to evolve as Rogers Park's first cooperative grocery store with over 1,800 community owners. The market specializes in locally sourced products grown or made within a 200-mile radius, offering everything from fresh produce to bulk foods where customers can bring their own containers. "We are carving out a niche that is not fully serviced in our community," said Mary Meyer, co-founder and vice president of the board.

Rogers Park residents interested in visiting 4 Suns Kitchen can stop by during Wild Onion Market's regular hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Community members can also become co-op owners for $250, which covers an entire household and lasts a lifetime, allowing them to help shape the future of this growing neighborhood institution.
