Hometown Heroes: The Palmer Squares Return to Chicago for Valentine's Eve Performance
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Palmer Square ·
Palmer Square's namesake hip-hop duo, The Palmer Squares, returned to their roots with a triumphant performance at Subterranean on February 13, drawing a packed crowd of neighborhood supporters and hip-hop enthusiasts alike.
The lyrical duo, composed of Term and Acumental, formed in 2010 after moving into an apartment together near Palmer Square Park, adopting the neighborhood's name as their artistic identity. Since then, they've built a devoted following through their distinctive wordplay and creative YouTube videos. "This neighborhood gave us our start and our name," shared Term during Friday's performance. "Coming back to perform so close to where it all began feels like coming home."
Local businesses reported increased foot traffic before and after the show, with several Palmer Square eateries offering special pre-show dining promotions. Neighborhood residents are encouraged to support other upcoming cultural events in the area, including the final weekend of Chicago Theatre Week running through February 15, which pairs perfectly with the diverse dining options available during the last days of Chicago Restaurant Week.
