Celebrate, Bake, and Shape Your Park: Humboldt Park Has a Full Plate This Pi Day Weekend

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Humboldt Park ·

Humboldt Park neighbors have plenty of reasons to get out and engage this Saturday — and it all starts at the field house. The Chicago Park District is hosting a Women's History Month celebration this evening at 1440 N. Humboldt Boulevard, running from 5:30 to 9:00 PM. The free community event is part of the Park District's citywide salute to women's contributions, and the Humboldt Park field house — with its storied history as a neighborhood hub — makes for a fitting venue. It's a great opportunity to connect with neighbors and honor the women who've shaped this community.

Meanwhile, today also happens to be Pi Day (3/14), and Humboldt Park's own Roeser's Bakery at 3216 W. North Ave. is getting in on the fun. One of Chicago's most beloved old-school bakeries, Roeser's is marking the occasion with pie specials today — giving neighbors a sweet excuse to stop in and support a neighborhood institution that's been serving the West Side for generations.

Looking further ahead, the Chicago Park District just launched its first-ever citywide Participatory Budget Program, giving residents direct say over which local park improvement projects get funded. That means Humboldt Park neighbors now have a real seat at the table when it comes to shaping the future of the 219-acre park they call home. Head to the Chicago Park District website to learn how to cast your vote — and while you're at it, swing by tonight's Women's History Month event and pick up a slice from Roeser's on your way.
