Fork & Family: De Colores Mexican Grill Is Coming to Clark Street — and Restaurant Week Is the Perfect Warm-Up

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Andersonville ·

Andersonville's dining scene is about to get even more flavorful. Patricia Guerrero — the owner behind beloved neighborhood staple Edgewater Tacos — is bringing a brand-new restaurant to Clark Street: De Colores Mexican Grill, set to open at 5403 N. Clark St. in the former home of Cesca's Margarita Bar & Grill, which closed late last year after a decade in business. Guerrero is aiming to have the doors open by Cinco de Mayo, making this one of the most anticipated spring openings on the corridor.

The venture is deeply personal. Guerrero and her brother were born and raised in Edgewater and first opened Edgewater Tacos in 2018 as a tribute to their father, who ran Durango Mexican Restaurant in the neighborhood back in the '80s. De Colores continues that multi-generational family legacy on Clark Street — a story that feels quintessentially Andersonville.

In the meantime, there's no better way to whet your appetite for the neighborhood's next big opening than by diving into Andersonville Restaurant Week, which kicked off yesterday and runs through March 29. With more than 15 eateries offering special prix-fixe menus — including Big Jones, Minyoli, Tanoshii, Uvae, and Anteprima — the two-week celebration is the ideal moment to explore the corridor's independent dining gems.
