Lace Up, Humboldt Park: Out There Chicago and Coffee Connections Are Hosting a Spring Run Right Through Your Backyard

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Humboldt Park ·

Spring has officially arrived in Humboldt Park — and one local nonprofit is making sure neighbors feel every step of it. This April, queer-led run and walk group Out There Chicago is teaming up with Coffee Connections Chicago, the beloved nonprofit cafe at 2950 W. Chicago Ave., for a community morning run and walk right through the heart of Humboldt Park. Participants can choose from a 1-mile, 2-mile, or 4-mile route, and all paces are warmly welcome — from seasoned runners to folks just looking for a reason to get outside. Afterward, stick around for coffee and good company at the cafe.

It's the kind of event that captures what makes Humboldt Park special: a neighborhood where community, culture, and a good cup of coffee all show up at the same time. Coffee Connections Chicago has long been a gathering place on the West Side, and partnering with Out There Chicago brings a new, inclusive energy to the park's trails this season. RSVPs are encouraged in advance — head to Out There Chicago's website to secure your spot.

And there's even more good news on the development front: Hispanic Housing Development Corporation is pushing forward with a proposed 44-unit affordable apartment building at 3251 W. Division St., with amenities including a community room, library, fitness area, and courtyard. Alderman Jessie Fuentes has noted a waiting list of 300 residents in need of housing in the ward — making every step toward more affordable units count. Whether you're running, walking, or just cheering from the sidelines, Humboldt Park is alive this spring. RSVP for the run at outtherechicago.com.
