Pedal Power Is Back: Swan Boats Return to the Humboldt Park Lagoon Just in Time for Spring

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Humboldt Park ·

Good news for lagoon lovers — one of Humboldt Park's most beloved warm-weather traditions is making a splash this spring. Wheel Fun Rentals, the popular pedal boat and bike rental company, is returning to the Humboldt Park lagoon after skipping last summer entirely. Workers were spotted out on the water as recently as April 13, getting the iconic swan boats prepped, polished, and ready to pedal.

Wheel Fun Rentals has operated out of the lagoon boathouse at 1301 N. Humboldt Park Drive since 2018, and franchisee co-owner Rodney Knight confirmed the company is finalizing a new one-year agreement with the Chicago Park District. This season comes with a sweet new perk: customer punch cards that offer a free third rental to guests who visit twice — because Knight wants neighbors coming back more than once. Swan boat rentals run $30 per hour, four-wheeled Surrey bikes are $29 per hour, and double Surrey bikes are $39. Starting this weekend, the concession is open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through May 17, then daily beginning May 22.

This is exactly the kind of neighborhood revival Humboldt Park deserves as the season turns. Grab your family, grab your friends, and head down to the lagoon — the boats are waiting. Visit wheelfunrentals.com for more details.
