A Family Legacy Comes to Clark Street: De Colores Mexican Grill Is Bringing Bold Flavors to Andersonville

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Andersonville ·

Andersonville's Clark Street corridor is welcoming a new chapter of a beloved North Side food story. Patricia Guerrero, the owner behind Edgewater Tacos, is opening De Colores Mexican Grill at 5403 N. Clark St. — the former home of Cesca's Margarita Bar & Grill, which closed late last year after a decade in business. Guerrero is aiming to have the doors open by Cinco de Mayo, making it one of the most anticipated debuts on the strip this spring.

The move is deeply personal for Guerrero, whose family roots in the neighborhood run decades deep. She and her brother were born and raised in Edgewater and opened Edgewater Tacos in 2018 as a tribute to their late father, who operated Durango Mexican Restaurant at 1130 W. Thorndale Ave. for ten years starting in the '80s. De Colores is the next proud chapter in that family legacy — and a natural fit for a neighborhood that has long celebrated independent, community-rooted dining.

Meanwhile, the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce has dropped another reason to love the neighborhood: the 2026 Andersonville Neighborhood Guide is officially here! The annual publication spotlights the district's locally owned shops, restaurants, bars, and service providers, and is packed with curated recommendations, event listings, and neighborhood maps. Pick up a free copy at the Chamber office at 5706 N. Clark St. or download it now at andersonville.org — your perfect companion for exploring everything Clark Street has in store this season.
