Neighbors Asked for It for Years — A Trader Joe's Is Finally Coming to Palmer Square's Doorstep
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Palmer Square ·
Palmer Square neighbors, the grocery store you've been dreaming about is officially on its way. Trader Joe's has confirmed plans to open a brand-new location at 2053 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Logan Square — just a short stroll from the boulevard — taking over the former CVS building on Milwaukee Avenue. The news has already sent a wave of excitement through the Northwest Side.
The location is a big deal for daily life in the neighborhood. Unlike most Trader Joe's across the city, the Logan Square outpost will feature substantial parking — more than 130 spots — making it one of the most accessible locations in Chicago. And there's even more to look forward to: an additional 12,000 square feet of retail space on the property is being marketed to other tenants, which could bring even more neighborhood-serving businesses to the corridor. Alderman Daniel La Spata, who helped make the store a reality, noted that bringing a Trader Joe's to Logan Square had been one of the most frequently requested asks from residents over the years.
No official opening date has been announced yet, but construction and buildout are moving forward. Keep an eye on Block Club Chicago and the Logan Square Chamber of Commerce for updates — and start making your shopping list. Palmer Square, your Trader Joe's era is almost here.
