Write On, Andersonville: Paper & Pencil's Dreamy New Clark Street Shop Is Open — and the Lines Prove It
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Andersonville ·
Andersonville's love affair with all things analog just got a whole lot more room to breathe. Paper & Pencil, the wildly popular stationery shop co-owned by Tyler McCall and Eric Campbell, officially opened its brand-new flagship location at 5208 N. Clark St. this past Saturday — and the neighborhood showed up in a big way.
The new Clark Street store is four times larger than the original 400-square-foot storefront at 1480 W. Berwyn Ave., clocking in at a spacious 1,600 square feet with a full basement for inventory. Walls are lined with hundreds of pens, markers, washi tapes, stickers, journals, and charms, plus well-known brands like Leuchtturm1917 and Kaweco alongside fresh finds from around the world. The first 50 customers scored a free gift with purchase — a fitting reward for the enthusiastic fans who turned out in droves. As co-owner Eric Campbell put it, the new space is all about "bringing back analog and people getting off their devices."
The growth story behind Paper & Pencil is remarkable: the shop turned a profit within six months of opening in 2023, saw sales surge 150% year-over-year in summer 2025, and now boasts nearly 100,000 social media followers. And the original Berwyn Ave. location isn't going away — the owners plan to convert it into a Paper & Pencil creative studio for community events and workshops this summer. Head to 5208 N. Clark St. to check it out, and follow @paperandpencilshop for updates!
