Your Street, Your Say: Irving Park Road Gets a Community Makeover Meeting — Plus Big Retail Coming to Six Corners
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Portage Park ·
Portage Park neighbors, tonight is your night to shape the future of one of the neighborhood's most-traveled corridors. The Portage Park Neighborhood Association is hosting an Irving Park Road Study Open House this evening, Wednesday, May 20, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Portage Park Senior Center, 4100 N. Long Ave. Community members are invited to learn about key findings from the ongoing study and weigh in on what improvements could transform Irving Park Road for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike. It's a rare, direct line to the planning process — and your voice matters.
And while you're thinking about the neighborhood's future, here's more good news on the commercial front: Six Corners is gearing up for a major retail refresh. A Pita Inn restaurant — which would be the first Chicago location for the beloved suburban staple — along with a Burlington department store and a Wells Fargo branch are all slated to open at the former Sears Auto Center site at 4035 N. Cicero Ave. Developer Novak Construction, the team behind the 6 Corners Lofts, plans to build three standalone buildings on the site, with completion projected for late 2026. New dining, shopping, and banking all coming to your backyard — that's a win for the whole Northwest Side.
Head to the Senior Center tonight to make your voice heard on Irving Park Road, and keep an eye on portageparkchamber.org for the latest updates on Six Corners development!
