Who's Got Chicago's Best Dog? The Windy City Hot Dog Fest Is Coming to Portage Park This Week

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Portage Park ·

Portage Park neighbors, your neighborhood is about to become the undisputed hot dog capital of Chicago — at least for one unforgettable weekend. The 5th Annual Windy City Hot Dog Fest takes over the 4000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue from May 29–31, and this year's edition is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

The premise is deliciously simple: Chicagoland's best hot dog stands go head-to-head, and you — the fest-goer — get to be the judge. Local favorites like Byron's Hot Dogs, Baked Cheese Haus, Chicago Doghouse, Frannies, Tikka Masala Dogs, and Sausage Fest Food Truck are all competing for the coveted title of Best Frankfurter. But the fun doesn't stop at the condiment bar. The fest also features live entertainment on a main music stage, a community stage spotlighting local talent, an arts and crafts market, a family activity zone for kids, a top dog parade, and a hot dog eating competition. Admission is just a

0 suggested donation. Doors open Friday at 4 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday action running noon to 10 p.m.

Presented in partnership with the Six Corners Chamber of Commerce, this is a true neighborhood celebration — one that puts Portage Park on the citywide map for a whole weekend. Grab your crew, bring your appetite, and head to Milwaukee Avenue to cast your vote for Chicago's best frank. Follow the fest on social media for the latest vendor and entertainment updates!
