Food Trucks, Films & Condo Know-How: The South Loop's Calendar Is Stacked This Weekend and Beyond
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/South Loop ·
Summer is officially in full swing in the South Loop — and the neighborhood's community calendar is proving it in style. This Saturday, June 20, the Chicago Food Truck Festival returns to 2300 S. Indiana Ave. starting at 10 a.m. for Season 13, subtitled "The Return of the Daisy." Whether you're a festival regular or a first-timer, it's the kind of only-in-Chicago street food celebration that draws neighbors out of their apartments and into the sunshine — and with the Sloop's food scene already on a hot streak this year, local pride is going to be running high.
And the fun doesn't stop there. South Loop Neighbors — the non-profit dedicated to enhancing quality of life across the neighborhood — has two back-to-back community events lined up at the end of the month. First, a free Movie in the Park is scheduled for June 29 at 8:45 p.m. in Grant Park, perfect for a warm summer evening under the stars. Then, on June 30 at 7 p.m., Cafe Bionda at 1924 S. State St. hosts "Condo Corner: From Assessments to Zoning," an expert-led session designed to help residents navigate the ins and outs of South Loop condo living.
From food trucks to film nights to homeowner know-how, the Sloop is showing once again that it's a neighborhood that truly shows up for itself. Are you hitting the Food Truck Festival this Saturday, or saving the date for Movie in the Park? Let your fellow neighbors know in the Socialhood community!
