Your Summer Soundtrack Is Free: Live on Logan Jazz Series Returns to Palmer Square Park This July

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Palmer Square ·

Palmer Square neighbors, your park just got a whole lot more musical. Live on Logan, the beloved free outdoor jazz series that calls Palmer Square Park home every summer, is back for another season — and it's bringing world-class local talent straight to your doorstep. The eclectic lineup draws on some of Chicago's finest jazz musicians, continuing a tradition that has made Sunday afternoons in the park one of the neighborhood's most treasured warm-weather rituals.

The series is made possible by the Palmer Square Advisory Council, a volunteer-run organization that keeps the concerts free by relying on neighbor donations. Organizers ask that you chip in via Venmo @Palmer-Square or online — every dollar goes directly to the musicians. It's a beautifully circular model: the community funds the music, and the music brings the community together. Whether you're a jazz devotee or just looking for a reason to spread a blanket on the grass, Live on Logan is exactly the kind of hyperlocal gem that makes this corner of Chicago so easy to love.

And if jazz isn't your only jam, the Northwest Side has even more free outdoor music on offer this summer — check out the Kilbourn Park Summer Concert Series on Friday evenings through July 31 and the Humboldt Arboreal Society's DJ sets and dance parties every other Sunday on the Humboldt Park hill. Head to palmersquareparkcouncil.org to follow Live on Logan dates and show your support.
