Portillo's Is Coming to Wrigleyville — And It's Bringing a First-Ever Walk-Up Window

Wrigleyville neighbors, a Chicago institution is about to get even closer to another Chicago institution. Portillo's — the legendary chain behind the city's most iconic hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches — officially announced plans to open its first-ever Wrigleyville location, and the timing couldn't be more perfect: the news dropped on National Hot Dog Day, July 15. The new restaurant will be located at 3519 N. Clark St., just a block south of Wrigley Field, and neighbors have been requesting this one for years.

The details are mouthwatering. The approximately 4,600-square-foot spot will seat more than 60 guests and — in a true neighborhood first — will feature Portillo's very first walk-up window, designed specifically for the high foot traffic of game days and concert nights on Clark Street. When it opens in 2027, the full Portillo's lineup will be on deck: Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-broiled burgers, fresh salads, and the famous chocolate cake shakes. It will also land in great company, sharing the building at 3519 N. Clark with Alamo Drafthouse, Shake Shack, Tin Roof, and a UFC gym — making that block one of the most action-packed addresses in the neighborhood.

To celebrate the announcement, Portillo's threw a free pop-up party near Clark Street and Patterson Avenue on Wednesday, complete with giveaways, photo ops, and a meet-and-greet with the Portillo's Pokey mascot.
