Lolla Is Almost Here & Chicago Climate Week Kicks Off: The Loop's Big Week Is Just Getting Started

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/The Loop ·

Loop neighbors, mark your calendars — the next two weeks are stacking up to be some of the most electrifying of the summer. First, the news everyone has been waiting for: Lollapalooza returns to Grant Park July 30–August 2, 2026, and this year's lineup is absolutely stacked. Charli XCX, Lorde, John Summit, Jennie, The XX, and Olivia Dean are among the headliners set to take over the Loop's iconic lakefront backyard for four days of world-class music. Whether you're a longtime festival devotee or a first-timer, there's never been a better reason to camp out in your own neighborhood's backyard.

But before Lolla even drops its first beat, the Loop becomes the hub for something equally important: Chicago Climate Week runs July 18–25, 2026 — the city's first-ever community-led, distributed Climate Week, bringing together events hosted by nonprofits, businesses, and local organizations across Chicagoland. With the Loop at the center of so much of the city's civic energy, expect the neighborhood to be buzzing with panels, activations, and community conversations all week long.

And if you need fuel for all of it, keep an eye on 176 W. Wacker Drive, where Fatback — a boundary-pushing sandwich shop and butcher counter from Lillie's Q pitmaster Charlie McKenna and the Fifty/50 Group — has been eyeing a Loop debut. Custom breads from West Town Bakery, top-shelf technique, and sandwiches built to impress: this one's worth the wait. Share your Lolla plans and Climate Week highlights with your neighbors right here on Socialhood!
