A beloved fixture of Andersonville's Clark Street corridor is preparing for its final curtain call. Chicago Dance Supply, the neighborhood's go-to destination for dance shoes, leotards, and dancewear, is closing its doors on July 27 after more than two decades in the community. The shop, located on the second floor at 5301 N. Clark St., has been a cornerstone of Andersonville's creative and performing arts scene since it first opened 23 years ago.

The news comes from co-founder Ald. Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth (48th Ward), who confirmed the closure to Block Club Chicago. With the store's lease coming to an end, Manaa-Hoppenworth says it was simply time for a change — though not without some bittersweet reflection on what the shop has meant to the neighborhood. Everything in the store is currently on sale through closing day, including some of the furniture and display cases, making this a final chance to snag a piece of Andersonville dance history. The store plans to continue selling products at traveling dance shows, and Manaa-Hoppenworth hasn't ruled out a future brick-and-mortar return somewhere in the 48th Ward.
