Berwyn Ave. to a space four times larger right on Clark Street, giving the neighborhood's most buzzed-about retail gem the room it has long deserved.
Since opening in 2023, Paper & Pencil has become a destination unlike any other in Chicago, drawing stationery and journaling enthusiasts from across the city — and beyond. The shop doesn't sell online, so fans travel from around the world to browse its curated selection of planners, postcards, washi tape, colored pens, and analog lifestyle goods. Sales surged 150% year-over-year in summer 2025, and the shop's TikTok and Instagram following has climbed past 98,000 — proof that the analog movement is very much alive on Clark Street. And in a sweet nod to community roots, the original Berwyn Ave. storefront is being converted into a workshop and gathering space.
