Big Growth on the Horizon: Burlington Coming to Howard Street & New Homes Approved on Sheridan

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Rogers Park ·

Rogers Park neighbors, the Far North Side's momentum as one of Chicago's most dynamic neighborhoods keeps building — and two fresh developments are proof that the best is still ahead.

First, retail fans take note: Burlington is set to open a new store at Gateway Centre, the shopping hub at the corner of Howard Street and Clark Street. For a community that has long championed accessible, everyday shopping options right in the neighborhood, this is welcome news — bringing national retail power to a corner that anchors Rogers Park's northern gateway and promises new jobs for local residents.

And that's not all. Chicago City Council earlier this year approved a striking new mixed-use development at 6929 N. Sheridan Road — a five-story building set to bring 80 residential units and ground-floor retail to one of Rogers Park's most prominent corridors. The project adds to a growing wave of thoughtful Sheridan Road development that also includes an affordable housing project planned at 7644 N. Sheridan, which will contribute 44 additional units with retail space. Together, these projects signal a neighborhood investing seriously in its future — more neighbors, more storefronts, more community.

Rogers Park is building something special, one block at a time. Stay plugged in with the Rogers Park Business Alliance at rpba.org and your 49th Ward office at 49thward.org for the latest on these exciting developments.
