Live on Logan Is in Its Final Stretch — Here's How to Catch the Last Three Free Sunday Concerts of the Season at Palmer Square Park

Palmer Square neighbors, the summer is winding down — but one of the neighborhood's most beloved traditions still has three golden Sunday afternoons left to offer. Live on Logan, the free outdoor concert series held right inside Palmer Square Park, is in the home stretch of its 7th season, and if you haven't made it out yet, now is the time to fix that.
The series runs every Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. through September 13, 2026 — meaning you have three more chances to pull up a blanket, pack a picnic, and spend a couple of hours under the park's famous elm canopy with world-class live music at absolutely no cost. The most recent installment took place this past Sunday, August 23, continuing a summer-long run that kicked off on July 12.
Organized by the Palmer Square Advisory Council, Live on Logan has quietly grown into one of the most community-rooted free music events on Chicago's entire Northwest Side. Now in its seventh year, the series has built a loyal following by booking genuinely accomplished musicians — not background music, but serious performers who treat the park's open-air stage like a proper concert venue. Past seasons have featured standouts like the Joe Policastro Trio, Marcel Bonfim's Funkeria, saxophonist Pat Mallinger's Quartet playing the music of Sonny Rollins, Tim Seisser and Electric Forecast performing jazz-fusion pioneers Weather Report, and the J. Davis Trio — a roster that would feel at home on any Chicago club stage.
What makes the series special isn't just the caliber of the music — it's the setting. Palmer Square Park's historic elm grove creates a canopy that few outdoor venues in the city can match, and the boulevard's grand architecture frames the whole scene in a way that feels distinctly, irreplaceably Chicago. Concertgoers spread out across the lawn with folding chairs and coolers, dogs wander between blankets, and neighbors who might not otherwise cross paths end up side by side for two hours of live music. It's a format that has worked for seven years because it asks almost nothing of you: just show up.
