Friends of Bezazian Book Sale Raises Funds for One of Chicago's Busiest Libraries

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Uptown ·

Next weekend, a beloved neighborhood tradition returns to Uptown. The Friends of Bezazian Book Sale will take place September 13–14, 2025, at the Bezazian Branch Library (1226 W. Ainslie Street). Shoppers can find amazing deals on gently used books, CDs, and DVDs—most items priced at just

or $2. Every dollar raised supports the Bezazian Branch's programming, facilities, and services.

This year's proceeds will help fund new materials identified by library staff to serve the evolving needs of Uptown's diverse community. In past years, this grassroots fundraiser has paid for everything from play kitchens and sensory cubes to sewing machines and podcasting equipment. Despite its off-the-beaten-path location, Bezazian Library ranks among Chicago's top 15 branches by circulation as of 2024. The library has a rich history dating back to 1951 when it was built thanks to a father's gift in honor of his son, and today remains one of the busiest and most popular of Chicago's 81 library branches.

Uptown residents are encouraged to support this vital community resource by attending the book sale or donating materials. Donations of books, CDs, and DVDs (no textbooks, cassettes, records, or VHS) are being accepted at the Bezazian circulation desk during regular library hours. Whether you're looking to refresh your home library or contribute to a neighborhood gem, this event offers a perfect opportunity to connect with fellow book lovers while supporting one of Uptown's most treasured institutions.
