New Six-Unit Residential Development Adds Housing Options to Washington Park as Fall Festivities Approach
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Washington Park ·
Washington Park residents are welcoming new housing options as a six-unit residential building was recently permitted at 5328 South Indiana Avenue on October 15, with an identical building pending approval next door. Developed by Famor LLC and designed by Pavlovcik Architecture, the $734,400 project fills vacant lots between 53rd and 54th Streets, adding to the neighborhood's ongoing revitalization efforts.
The development joins another recently completed six-unit building across the street that's now fully leased, signaling growing interest in the area. Located just two blocks from the Garfield Green Line station, these new homes offer convenient access to public transportation, with multiple bus routes within walking distance.
Meanwhile, Washington Park residents can look forward to the return of the popular UPSIDE DOWN Halloween Parade on October 25 from 12-2 PM on Russell Drive. Part of Mayor Brandon Johnson's Chicago Fall Fest 2025, this unique event flips traditional parades by having costumed families become the parade while walking past performances from dancers, acrobats, puppeteers, and sports mascots. This family-friendly celebration is free to attend and highlights the cultural richness of the neighborhood. For those interested in experiencing the parade or learning more about new housing options in Washington Park, the neighborhood's regular community meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month.
