Washington Park Prepares for Inaugural Youth Arts Fall Showcase as Part of Chicago Fall Fest 2025
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Washington Park ·
While Washington Park residents are looking forward to the UPSIDE DOWN Halloween Parade returning for its 6th year on October 25, another exciting event is taking center stage this weekend. Local youth artists and community organizations are putting final touches on installations for the first-ever Washington Park Youth Arts Fall Showcase, part of Mayor Brandon Johnson's Chicago Fall Fest 2025 citywide celebration.
The showcase joins a series of ten community "Fall-4-All" events happening across Chicago between October 22 and November 7, featuring local DJs, free food, resources, and family activities. The initiative, which began October 17 with the CHI-TOBERFEST event in Harold Washington Library's Winter Garden, highlights neighborhood talent while bringing resources directly to communities. "Through these events, we're creating safe spaces for youth expression while celebrating the cultural richness of Chicago's neighborhoods," said Janeicia Williams, Director at Project Exploration, one of the participating organizations.
The Youth Arts Fall Showcase also builds upon Washington Park's reputation as a cultural hub, following other successful events like the African/Caribbean International Festival of Life held earlier this year. "Events that highlight the cultural richness of our city are essential to Chicago's extraordinary spirit—where world-class creativity, diverse communities, and bold artistic expression come together," said Sharene Shariatzadeh, President and CEO of LUMA8, which is supporting several Fall Fest events. Residents interested in participating in future arts programming can contact the Washington Park fieldhouse or visit Chicago.gov/DCASE for details.
