TimeLine Theatre Reaches Halfway Point in Construction of New Uptown Arts Hub

Construction on TimeLine Theatre's new Uptown home has reached its halfway point, with significant progress visible along North Broadway. The $46 million arts center has completed its pre-cast concrete exterior and roof, with interior framing for the theater, lobby, bar/cafe, rehearsal room, and education spaces nearing completion. The building will soon feature catwalks for lighting systems, rigging, and stage equipment, transforming the former warehouse into a state-of-the-art performance venue.
"A new place for art, education and community in Uptown," reads the sign outside the construction site at 5035 N. Broadway. The company has already raised more than $41.5 million toward the project's estimated $46 million cost, with plans to open the facility in spring 2026. Henrik Ibsen's "An Enemy of the People" has been announced as the inaugural production for the May-June 2026 season. When completed, the venue will feature a lobby café and bar, a 250-seat flexible black box theatre, exhibit galleries, rehearsal space, design studios, and production facilities to support artists and staff.
Uptown residents eager to connect with TimeLine before the grand opening can visit their temporary offices at 5539 N. Broadway, where staff have relocated to oversee construction and build community relationships. This major investment in Uptown's arts infrastructure continues the neighborhood's rich tradition as an entertainment district, joining venues like the Riviera Theatre and Aragon Ballroom in cementing the area's reputation as a cultural destination.
