New 32-Unit Residential Building Gets Green Light on Leland Avenue in Uptown
By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Uptown ·
A significant addition to Uptown's housing landscape is moving forward as the City of Chicago granted a building permit on November 12 for a new five-story residential development at 936 West Leland Avenue. The project, developed by West Leland Avenue LLC, will bring 32 new apartments to the neighborhood, with six units designated as affordable housing.
The modern building will feature a thoughtfully designed ground floor with a six-car garage, storage for 36 bicycles, a small exercise room, and two residential units alongside the lobby. The remaining 30 apartments will be distributed across the upper floors, offering a mix of six studios, ten one-bedroom, thirteen two-bedroom, and one three-bedroom unit, providing housing options for various household sizes and needs. This development joins several other recent construction projects that are strengthening Uptown's reputation as a growing residential destination on Chicago's North Side.
Residents interested in learning more about this and other neighborhood developments can attend the upcoming Uptown Chamber of Commerce meetings, where community members have opportunities to discuss how new housing contributes to the area's continued revitalization. The project's timeline for completion has not yet been announced, but construction is expected to begin soon.
