By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Washington Park ·
Washington Park residents looking for unique holiday gifts have a vibrant local option as Arts + Public Life (APL) announces a special holiday pop-up market at the historic L1 Retail Store. Located at 319 E. Garfield Boulevard inside a restored 1892 'L' station, the store has become a creative hub showcasing South Side entrepreneurs throughout 2025.
The holiday market, running weekends from November 29 through December 21, will feature an expanded selection of locally made products curated by current Entrepreneur-in-Residence Peter Gaona, founder of ReformedSchool. "This pop-up celebrates the incredible talent and creativity we have right here in Washington Park," Gaona explained during the market announcement. The historic venue provides a perfect backdrop for holiday shopping while supporting local businesses, with offerings ranging from handcrafted jewelry to original artwork, textiles, and specialty food items produced by South Side creators.
Community members are encouraged to visit the L1 Retail Store during this special holiday season event, which builds upon APL's deepened commitment to fostering creative entrepreneurship in Washington Park throughout 2025. The L1 store serves as the anchor of the developing Arts Block along Garfield Boulevard, which aims to transform the historic corridor into a vibrant destination for arts and culture on Chicago's South Side.
