Andersonville's KOVAL Distillery to Host 'Maker's Workshop' Following Successful Trashy Holiday Market

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Andersonville ·

Following the success of December 10th's Trashy Holiday Market, KOVAL Distillery (4241 N Ravenswood) has announced a series of sustainable crafting workshops starting December 16th. The new initiative builds on the popularity of the market, which showcased local Chicago makers who transform reclaimed materials into unique handcrafted items.

The original Trashy Holiday Market, a collaboration between KOVAL and Nowhere Collective, featured artisans using only reclaimed materials, repurposing less-than-loved stuff and promoting circular activities. This partnership has been inspiring Chicagoans to "rethink gifting and support locally-made, low eco-impact, and socially-thoughtful businesses." The new workshops will teach participants how to create their own upcycled gifts and decorations, with all materials provided from rescued items that would otherwise end up in landfills.

Andersonville residents interested in sustainable living can register for the workshops through KOVAL's website. Each session will feature different local artists who participated in the market, creating an ongoing community around creative reuse. The distillery will also offer special seasonal cocktails during the workshops, making it a festive addition to Andersonville's December event calendar alongside other neighborhood traditions like the recent Saint Lucia Festival and upcoming Menorah Lighting ceremony.
