Two New Restaurants Bring Fresh Flavors to Historic Uptown Building

By Socialhood News · Il/Chicago/Uptown ·

Uptown's culinary landscape is expanding as two exciting new restaurants have opened their doors in the same historic building at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Malden Street in Sheridan Park.

The four-story brick building now houses Piacere Mio, an Italian restaurant offering an extensive menu of pastas, risotto, and meat entrees, alongside Las Piñatas, a casual Mexican eatery serving tacos, burritos, and flautas. Piacere Mio marks the second location for owners Francisco Perez and chef Jose Marquez, who originally launched their concept in Forest Park in 2023. The restaurant brings authentic Italian cuisine to a neighborhood building that has previously hosted several vegan establishments from co-owners Andy and Gina Kalish over the past decade.

This dual restaurant opening represents a significant addition to Uptown's diverse dining scene, particularly as it brings established concepts from different culinary traditions to the neighborhood. Residents looking to explore these new dining options can visit the Wilson-Malden corner, which has long been a fixture in the residential Sheridan Park enclave. The restaurants' arrival continues Uptown's evolution as one of Chicago's most dynamic food destinations, offering community members even more variety when dining close to home.
