Bandit Running Opens Flagship Store in Bucktown with Community Run Event as Foundry Park Development Gains Approval

Brooklyn-based running apparel brand Bandit Running has officially launched its flagship Chicago location at 1708 N. Damen Ave. in Bucktown, marking a significant addition to the neighborhood's retail landscape. The company's third brick-and-mortar store, which opened its doors on Friday, features a dramatically renovated storefront in the former Fjällräven space, designed to create a welcoming community hub for runners and shoppers alike.

To celebrate the grand opening, Bandit is hosting a special community run this Saturday on the nearby 606's Bloomingdale Trail, with exclusive Bucktown-themed merchandise available only at this location. A central feature of the new store is its partnership with Ukrainian-based Soloway Coffee, which will operate a cafe within the space offering espresso drinks and pastries to customers and neighbors. This marks Soloway's second Chicago location, following their Lincoln Park cafe opened in 2024.

Meanwhile, Bucktown residents have another reason to celebrate as the Chicago Plan Commission unanimously approved the Foundry Park development, which will transform 34 acres between Lincoln Park and Bucktown into a new neighborhood. Developer Jim Letchinger of JDL Development describes the project as "a connection of Lincoln Park, Bucktown and Wicker Park" that respects the existing architectural character of surrounding communities while creating a pedestrian-friendly environment with housing, retail, and riverfront amenities. Residents interested in learning more about either development can visit Bandit Running's new store during business hours (7am-7pm) or attend upcoming community meetings regarding the Foundry Park project.
